The airplane
The eDA40 is a 100% electric aircraft built by Diamond Aircraft based on the DA40, their widely-used four-seat aircraft for pilot training. The eDA40 will be a two-seater aircraft, unlike the traditional combustion-engine DA40 designed for pilot training. Diamond’s goal is to achieve a 90-minute flight autonomy coupled with a very fast 30-minute recharge.
The manufacturer
Diamond Aircraft is an Austrian manufacturer founded in 1981 and acquired by a Chinese group in 2017. Diamond already markets several types of aircraft, including the well-known DA40 and DA42, which are highly used by flight schools for training their students.
